I started in hospitality at 15 and spent over 25 years in the industry - running my own pubs, working in high-end venues, and eventually becoming FD at an independent hotel, a role I still hold today. In 2011 I retrained as an accountant, and in 2020 I founded my own accountancy practice - built it, sold it in 2024, and was asked to stay on as MD with shares. I'm still there now.
I've sat on both sides of the table and I know exactly what needs to change when a business isn't working the way it should. The accountancy practice handles compliance - but that's not where my heart is, and I now have the right people doing that so I can focus on what actually moves the needle. Budgets, cashflows, pricing, profitability - the stuff that builds businesses and gives owners the clarity they need to make real decisions.
